What Is An Outpatient Program?
An outpatient drug rehab center offers programming that allows clients to live at home while still receiving the addiction treatment that they need. They are not as intensive as an inpatient program, but they still offer a range of treatment options to meet the client’s recovery needs. There are three different types of programs typically offered at outpatient drug rehab centers, including:
- Standard Outpatient
The least intensive of the three options, standard outpatient usually involves just 1-2 treatment sessions per week, for 1-2 hours per session. Clients typically meet with a therapist or counselor during these sessions, in order to keep clients on track to meet their recovery goals. While few may find this to be the best option to start with, it is a great way to step down treatment as you successfully complete other, more intensive programs. - Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs)
IOPs require more treatment time than standard programs. Clients attend treatment 3-5 days per week, for 2-3 hours per session. Some clients begin treatment with an IOP, whereas others use it as a step down from an inpatient program but still need ongoing recovery support. - Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHPs)
Sometimes also called day treatment, PHPs are the most intensive outpatient program available. Clients attend 5-7 days per week, for several hours per session. They offer more varied treatment options, including medical and non-medical services. Much like an IOP, PHPs can be used as initial treatment or as a step-down after completing an inpatient treatment program.
Who Is An Outpatient Program For?
Outpatient programs in Alpharetta like Emerge Healing Center typically only recommend these programs to certain clients. If you have a stable home, supportive family, and reliable transportation, then an outpatient program may be a good choice for you. If, however, any of the following apply to you, you would be best suited to an inpatient program:
- Your addiction is severe or has been an issue for several years
- You are addicted to more than one substance
- You have underlying mental health concerns
- You are at risk of experiencing life-threatening withdrawal symptoms
- You have previously attempted or threatened suicide
- You don’t have reliable transportation
- You aren’t currently able to provide informed consent
- You have previously completed addiction treatment, but have since experienced a severe relapse
Once you have discussed your needs and concerns with our staff, we can work together to decide if a program at our outpatient drug rehab center is right for you. Each of our outpatient programs offers different levels of care, so they won’t be right for everyone.
How Much is An Outpatient Program in Alpharetta?
One of the most important concerns clients have regarding receiving care at our outpatient treatment center in Alpharetta is the cost. One of the biggest advantages of outpatient programs is that they are significantly less expensive than inpatient ones, which makes it easier for more people to get the addiction care that they need. In addition, recent changes to insurance regulations require insurance companies to cover at least part of an addiction treatment program. So, if you have insurance, you can expect at least some help in paying for your treatment at an outpatient drug rehab center.
If you do not currently have insurance and are worried about how to pay for rehab, we are here to help. From sliding scale fees to payment plans, there are additional options available that you may not have thought of. Our staff can help you determine exactly what your addiction treatment program will cost, as well as how you can cover these costs to ensure that you get the care that you need.
What Happens After Outpatient Treatment?
Once a client has completed treatment at an outpatient drug rehab center, they aren’t “cured” of their addiction. Addiction is a chronic disease that leaves people at risk of relapse if they aren’t getting the support that they need. That is why Emerge Healing Center ensures that all of our clients have an aftercare program lined up before they leave our facility. Aftercare often means joining a support group, continuing individual therapy, or attending 12-step meetings.
